Choices, Chances, Challenges – Volunteering Abroad During the Pandemic
What is it like to do an ESC during a pandemic? How does it feel to be a part of the last generation of British ESC volunteers? Where can you find the motivation to remain patient when you need to wait for your visa appointment for 6 months?
Michael from Liverpool and Saif from Tunis started their European Solidarity Corps (ESC) in Hamburg during the pandemic. At “Choices, chances, challenges”, they invite you to discover their beautiful home cities on a virtual city tour that is combined with an intercultural quiz. Afterwards, they will host an ESC café with a Q&A session on life as international volunteers. Both will share why they plan to remain in Hamburg and how they decided to volunteer abroad in the first place, despite the threats of Covid, long visa procedures and Brexit.
Whether you would like to find out more about the ESC or whether you are a former volunteer who is curious about these international stories, you are more than welcome to join this event which is part of this year’s European youth week!
